Myles Frost and Tavon Lamont, who play MJ in the Broadway musical, have just announced in their stories on instagram that they are finishing the album for the show 'MJ The Musical'.
So the Estate would now launch into cover albums? And again, what do we do with the real MJ. You might think it was a bad joke, but when you see that the actors really went to Avatar Studios, a recording studio in New York, to finish sessions, you think it's done (and well done).
Frankly, the fans didn't need that.
That artists make cover albums or covers of MJ songs is normal and we can listen to them willingly, but the Estate only offers that and nothing of the real Michael Jackson when they have the studio archives, audio, video in the vaults, and the rights that go with it, it's incomprehensible.
Let's say that we understand, but it's amazing.
And with luck, we'll save a bit of MJ to occasionally make his voice appear in the backing vocals of these covers,… will we go down that low?
MJ featuring on his own tracks sung by others?
Do not market this album. At worst, the Estate, sell it only on the spot, under the coat, for the spectators, between two churros, or make only 30 copies, and give them as souvenirs to the actors of the troupe. They will be happy, we will pretend to be happy, everyone will be happy.
How can we be happy with an official album of covers, when no valid support has been authorized since 2014 and especially when the Estate has done nothing to promote sound engineers, producers, collaborators of MJ, and who have or had (think for example Bruce Swedien) unpublished and abundant studio archives of Michael Jackson (with in addition a real knowledge of his working method).
