The Palace was built 12 years after Sun City opened, and the sheer magnitude of its opulence is proof of the amount of money taken from those frequenting Sun City's slot machines and tables. Separated from the rest of the resort by "The Bridge of Time" -- a large stone structure that shudders and rumbles at preappointed times from a mythical earthquake, and is lined with a "guard of honor" of carved elephants -- the Palace is entered through the massive Mighty Kong Gates. Looking down on the rivers and jungle vegetation, it's hard to imagine that 15 years ago this was nothing but a dusty, rocky plain. From the bridge, you can clearly see the "Valley of Waves," where landlocked Gautengers learn to "surf" on simulated waves, tan on man-made beaches, and hurtle down steep waterslides, reaching speeds of up to 35kmph (22 mph; note that the Valley is closed in winter). In the distance, overlooking a lake filled with live flamingos, is the majestic Palace, with what seems like an entire jungle of carved animals in attendance. Surrounding the Palace is what must be the most artfully landscaped garden in Africa, featuring five trails through 22 different sections of forest. The theme (that of a "lost city" that has been rediscovered and restored) is sometimes carried to ridiculous extremes, but the craftsmanship is world-class; the fantasy landscape is quite overwhelming. With Michael Jackson a majority shareholder, things can only get weirder.

Michael Jackson , der Pop-Superstar, kauft eine Beteiligung an Sun International, dem südafrikanischen Entertainment-Unternehmen, das für extravagante und bizarre Glücksspiel-Resorts wie Sun City berühmt ist. Es wird erwartet, dass Herr Jackson etwa 400 Millionen Rand (40 Millionen Pfund) für eine Beteiligung von 27 Prozent zahlt.

Sun City ist eines der Lieblingshotels des Sängers. Es wurde in einer "unabhängigen" schwarzen Heimat unter der Apartheid gebaut, um Weiße zu versorgen, die mit schwarzen Prostituierten spielen oder sich mit ihnen vergnügen wollten, Aktivitäten, die damals in Südafrika illegal waren.

Mit der Abschaffung des Heimat-Systems, dem Ende der Gesetze, die den Rassen-Geschlechtsverkehr regeln, und mit neuen Spielzentren in der Nähe der großen Städte, versucht Sun City, sich als Familienurlaubsort neu zu erfinden. Es war nicht ganz erfolgreich. Das Hotel hat Anfang des Jahres 2000 Arbeiter entlassen. Einige der anderen Resorts von Sun International wurden durch Änderungen der südafrikanischen Glücksspielgesetze aus dem Geschäft gedrängt.

Herr Jackson hat nach dem Treffen mit Präsident Nelson Mandela ein Interesse am südlichen Afrika entwickelt.

Mit seinem Geschäftspartner, dem amerikanischen Glücksspielmagnaten Don Baden, hat er im vergangenen Jahr mehrere Besuche gemacht, um nach Entertainment-Investment-Möglichkeiten Ausschau zu halten.

Sie haben erwogen, einen Themenpark in Namibia aufzubauen und ein Waisenhaus in Swasiland als Teil eines Tourismusprojekts zu errichten. Herr Jackson war letztes Jahr auf dem Weltwirtschaftsforum in Windhoek, wo er von mehr Leibwächtern begleitet wurde als irgendeiner der afrikanischen Präsidenten.

Der Sänger ist mit Sol International Gründerin Sol Kerzner eng befreundet. Er war der besondere Gast bei der Eröffnung von Mr Kerzners 280 Millionen Pfund auf den Bahamas in diesem Jahr.

Jackson und sein Partner kaufen den 27-prozentigen Anteil, der der North West Development Corporation gehört, einer regionalen Regierungsbehörde, die gesetzlich dazu verpflichtet ist, ihre Anteile an Sun International bis zum 10. Mai zu veräußern.

Also Aktienbesitz ist Erbmasse und geht somit an die Kinder über. Ich habe nach den Preisen mal suchen wollen aber dazu hätte ich mich da anmelden müssen und das wollte ich nicht. Ich habe dafür leider auch nicht die passende Marie.

Kommt ja auch noch darauf an bei wem und wann man das bucht. BOOKING.COM kann es durchaus auch billiger machen.
